南宋騷雅詞的產生導正了唐五代以來詞的浮豔之風，「清空騷雅」是宋代詞學發展的一大轉變。自鮦陽居士提出「騷雅」的理念之後，詞繼推重「雅正」之餘，結合楚騷香草比興之思，發而為「樂而不淫、哀而不傷」的騷雅詞，姜夔、辛棄疾、吳文英、張先、柳永、周邦彥、張炎、周密、王沂孫、陸游、張孝祥等人均作騷雅詞。

作為音樂文學意義上的一環，騷雅詞也是一種合樂的文學體類，是詞的一種，在詞體「騷雅」化的過程中，「宗經」與「慕騷」的思想風尚，直接或間接推動南宋騷雅詞的興盛，騷雅詞的產生既是一種文學現象，更代表一種文化現象，在詞史發展中具有深刻的意義。
